Whichever way you look at it, Game of Thrones is now entering its final stretch, and the hit HBO show is in the midst of a Westeros shattering crescendo. With endgame territory looming, any hints of potential storylines can cause the rumor mill to spin widely out of control. Aside from picking apart casting calls or speculating on what locations mean for the fate of the Known World, a recent spoiler- ridden leak from Watchers on the Wall carries more substance. According to their source, the show will shoot scenes with Daenerys Targaryen, at the Dragonpit. That's the Dragonpit in King's Landing. Admittedly, this isn't a huge revelation; after all, Season 6 showed Daenerys, Missandei, Tyrion, Varys and her new fleet of ships head toward Westeros in the quest to reclaim the Iron Throne. But the significance of the Dragon Pit, plus Daenerys's presence in King's Landing, are significant for a number of reasons. Namely: The Dragonpit is a significant structure in the book series. Dany will make it to Westeros sooner than expected. Cersei'sreign will be threatened almost as quickly as it began. Dany could be looking for somewhere to house her dragons, suggesting she has taken control of King's Landing. Or.. A certain someone may kidnap her dragons in a quest for power. What Exactly Is The Dragonpit? The Dragonpit . Martin's series of novels will be familiar with the name. The formidable dome was built on Rhaenys's hill at the command of Maegor the Cruel. Situated in King's Landing, it was used to accommodate dragons during the zenith of house Targaryen. During the Dance of the Dragons — the Targaryen Civil War — tens of thousands of smallfolk gained access, killed the dragons inside and then set fire to the structure. The dome has remained collapsed in over a century since, the iron doors remain sealed shut, and the entire building has become a mere relic of Targaryen power gone by. As a side note to Maegor the Cruel — could the casting call for a Young Lord or a Warrior actually be describing Maegor? If so, we may get to see the sadistic King during a flashback sequence. See Also: A Quick Arrival For Daenerys And Her Fleet. It's not a spoiler in the sense that, well, it was pretty obvious Dany was heading toward Westeros at the end of Season 6. But Season 7 has been confirmed to consist of only seven episodes, meaning Dany's story arc will be accelerating quickly, unlike her narrative up to this point. In short: shit is getting real. It's unclear how events will unfold, but during those seven episodes, Dany needs to arrive to King's Landing, which isn't going to be plain sailing (pun fully intended); there will no doubt be a battle. She also needs to discover the Dragonpit and either restore it to its former glory or destroy it for good, perhaps after discovering its existence from Tyrion. This Will Have Serious Repercussions For Queen Cersei Lannister. In the game of thrones, Cersei is one of the most savage and canny players, as illustrated by her decision to blast half of King's Landing into thin air with wildfire, a shocking action that resulted in her being crowned Queen. But her triumph won't last for long. Daenerys's arrival will signal a huge challenge for Cersei; as mentioned above, there's little chance that the Queen of Dragons would inconspicuously approach King's Landing. That sets up a direct conflict with Cersei and the Kingsguard, which could result in Cersei's demise. This also opens the door to fulfil Maggy the Frog's prophecy that Cersei will be killed by her . Or will Jaime kill her before he gets chance? But Why Is Daenerys Visiting The Dragonpit? Daenerys could destroy the Dragonpit . But her motivation for visiting the ruins isn't straightforward. The first thought that comes to mind is that she will have taken control of King's Landing by this point, and requires somewhere for Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal to reside. However, it's known that the dragons raised in the Dragonpit (Shrykos, Morghul, Tyraxes, Dreamfyre and Syrax) never grew to the same size as those raised before. Instead, it's more likely Daenerys will feel that the structure is inhumane — given her love for her dragons — and visit the Dragonpit to destroy it for good. Or, there could be another reason that doesn't bode so well for Dany.. Will Her Dragons Be Captured? This leads on to the question: Could a certain someone have kidnapped her dragons in a quest for power? That certain someone is the newly crowned King of the Iron Islands, Euron Greyjoy. He was last seen grabbing his crotch, making dick jokes and vocalizing his desire to marry Daenerys. He may have a trick up his sleeve that gives him a legitimate shot at his dream coming true, in the form of . In the book series, Euron acquires the device that is said to sound like . It's also lethal for the person using it. In A Feast for Crows one of Euron's men, Cragorn, blew the horn but collapsed and died shortly after. Euron may be able to control Dany's dragons . The use of King's Landing will come into play if Euron colludes with Cersei; perhaps he'll get her on side by promising her control of the dragons, with the intention of betraying her once Dany is on his side. Maybe Season 7 will conclude with Dany sweeping in to King's Landing, rescuing her dragons, taking control of the throne from Cersei and becoming the new Queen, just in time for Jon Snow and Sansa to arrive having discovered the truth of R+L=J.. That's not too much to ask, is it? How do you think Dany's visit to the Dragonpit will play out in Game of Thrones Season 7?(Source: Watchers on the Wall).
